American Banker quotes Partner Lucy Morris on CFPB hiring spree

Recently, Dave Uejio, Acting Director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau's (CFPB) announced that the Bureau is seeking to hire more attorneys to join its enforcement team. American Banker reports that although Biden's pick for Director, Rohit Chopra, has yet to have a nomination hearing before the Senate Banking Committee, Acting Director Uejio has already named a new head of enforcement and launched a recruitment effort. The national campaign to recruit attorneys follows a 17% drop in staffing at the agency during the Trump administration.

Hudson Cook Partner Lucy Morris, a former CFPB deputy enforcement director, told American Banker, "They are trying to staff up aggressively and trying to get the word out through nontraditional means, which suggests they have big plans for what they want to do."
