Hudson Cook Partner Lucy Morris featured in Subprime Auto Finance News

Lucy Morris, a partner in Hudson Cook's Washington, D.C. office, is quoted extensively in an article published by Subprime Auto Finance News on May 30, 2017. The article discusses the high-profile case before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia questioning the constitutionality of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB).

In the article, Ms. Morris speaks specifically about why she is not surprised by the court's thinking that this case is more political rather than constitutional.

According to Ms. Morris "It didn't surprise me simply because the CFPB has been a political hot button since day one and continues to be, as you know, very political, with people on both sides of the aisle feeling very strongly about the bureau. There is the CHOICE Act. We have the change in administration. We're in a very political environment, and the court was well aware of the political environment, well aware that this is a young agency and this case is really challenging the very structure of the agency."

Before joining the firm, Ms. Morris worked at the CFPB. In her most recent position, she served as a Deputy Enforcement Director, where she was responsible for overseeing investigations and litigation relating to consumer financial products and services. She was also a founding member of the Implementation Team that organized the CFPB after passage of the Dodd-Frank Act. Prior to the CFPB, Ms. Morris worked at the Federal Trade Commission for over 20 years in a variety of leadership positions.
