Professional Experience

Robert is a founding partner in the firm's Maryland office. His practice includes assisting national and state banks, savings associations, credit unions, mortgage bankers and other licensed lenders in the development and maintenance of nationwide consumer finance programs; the creation of co-branded credit card arrangements; and the purchase and sale of credit card and other consumer loan portfolios.

Prior to founding Hudson Cook, Robert was a partner with Venable, Baetjer and Howard's Banking Group in Baltimore, Maryland. Robert was previously with Willkie Farr & Gallagher's Banking Department in Washington, D.C., and was also with Semmes, Bowen & Semmes' Banking Department in Baltimore, Maryland.

Robert has been actively involved in a number of associations including Chairman of the Consumer Credit Committee of the Federal Reserve Board Consumer Advisory Council from 1995 to 1997; Chairman of the Subcommittee on Truth in Lending of the American Bar Association Business Law Section from 1993 to 1997; Founding Member and past President of the American College of Consumer Financial Services Lawyers from 2015-2017; Member of the Section Council, Business Law Section of the Maryland State Bar Association from 1988 to 1991; Chairman, Subcommittee on Consumer Credit, Business Law Section of the Maryland State Bar Association from 1985 to 1989; and Chairman, Subcommittee of Financial Institution Regulation, Section on Business Law, Young Lawyers Division of the American Bar Association from 1988 to 1989. He is a member of both the American Bar Association and the Maryland State Bar Association.

Robert received his law degree in 1981 from Georgetown University Law Center where he was also a staff member for the American Criminal Law Review. Robert holds a Bachelor of Arts in English from Washington and Lee University.
