Hudson Cook Chairman Michael Benoit to speak at first AFSA Law & Compliance Symposium in January

Michael Benoit, a partner in Hudson Cook's Washington, D.C., office and chair of the firm, will speak at the first American Financial Services Association (AFSA) Law & Compliance Symposium, to be held in San Diego from January 29-31, 2018.

AFSA's first Law & Compliance Symposium will provide insights and guidance on critical federal and state compliance issues for the financial services industry. The symposium is geared toward companies of all sizes, from large, publicly traded companies to small, privately owned businesses. The conference is for company representatives who have compliance responsibilities, whether they are in management or legal, government, or compliance departments. The meeting will focus on compliance for direct and indirect auto finance, traditional installment loans, payment cards, and mortgage loans.

Benoit advises banks, sales finance companies, auto dealers, leasing companies, mortgage lenders, and other creditors and technology providers on a wide range of consumer financial services law, and provides federal legislative and regulatory advice and support to financial services trade associations. In addition to serving as counsel to the AFSA's Vehicle Finance Committee, Benoit also serves as the chair of the Personal Property Subcommittee of the American Bar Association's Consumer Financial Services Committee and is regulatory counsel for the Consumer Credit Industry Association.

Benoit is a Fellow of the American College of Consumer Financial Services Lawyers, "a professional association of lawyers particularly skilled and experienced in handling consumer financial services matters and dedicated to the improvement and enhancement of the skill and practice of consumer financial services law and the ethics of the profession." He is a frequent speaker and author on a variety of consumer financial services law topics.
