Hudson Cook Partner Lucy Morris Quoted in HousingWire on the Future of the CFPB

Lucy E. Morris

Hudson Cook Partner Lucy Morris was recently quoted in a HousingWire article examining the future of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau as Acting Director Russell Vought's tenure approaches its end and Brian Johnson's nomination to lead the agency remains pending.

Morris discusses increased activity among state attorneys general and state banking regulators, continued consumer complaint activity, and what Johnson's nomination and prior CFPB experience could signal for the Bureau's future.

"I think you would see [Johnson] being supportive of innovation and trying to have clear rules of the road for fintechs and others," Morris told HousingWire. "Under Kathy Kraninger, there were a lot of enforcement actions, so I think you would have a return to enforcement and supervision, and not crazy stuff, but focus on the fraud side of things."
