Best Law Firms 2019 magazine publishes article by Catherine Brennan and Nora Udell

On October 30, U.S. News & World Report and Best Lawyers® published the ninth edition of Best Law Firms magazine. Hudson Cook attorneys Catherine Brennan and Nora Udell's article, "Banking On It," discusses developments at the state and federal level that are beginning to address legal questions coming out of the "fintech revolution." As fintech companies offer innovative online solutions for banks seeking to extend credit and other products to consumers, regulators, legislatures and courts see the need to regulate what is essentially a business relationship between the banks and service providers. Catherine and Nora discuss recent developments, including the De La Torre v. CashCall decision in California, and the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency's (OCC) announcement that it will consider applications for national bank charters from fintech companies.

Hudson Cook is nationally ranked by U.S. News & World Report and Best Lawyers® for its Financial Services Regulation Law practice. Catherine and Nora, both located in the Baltimore office, engage in credit due diligence on behalf of investors in fintech firms, bank partnership platforms, small business lenders, merchant cash advance companies, consumer finance companies, title loan companies and payday lenders.
