Patty Covington named to Inaugural Women in Auto Finance Honoree List
Patty Covington, a partner in the firm's Richmond, Virginia office, was named to the inaugural list of Women in Auto Finance, sponsored by Cherokee Media Group. As a member of this elite group of honorees, Patty will participate on a panel of her peers on Tuesday, November 13 during the first block of Used Car Week at The Westin Kierland Resort and Spa in Scottsdale, Arizona. Catherine Brennan appointed as Vice Chair for ABA Consumer Financial Services Committee
Partner Catherine Brennan was appointed as a Vice Chair of the American Bar Association's (ABA) Consumer Financial Services Committee. In addition to Catherine's appointment as Vice Chair, five attorneys were recently appointed as Young Lawyer Liaisons on the Committee, and the September 2018 leadership roster also includes Anastasia Caton, Co-Vice Chair of the Young Lawyers sub-committee, and Partner Nikki Munro, Active Past Chair and Business Law Fellow.
Catherine was quoted in several different publications this month. Bloomberg BNA spoke to Catherine when they reported that the CFPB is reviving their disclosure sandbox plan. She also commented for Law360 and New York Law Journal on the New York Department of Financial Services' lawsuit filed to challenge the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency's authority to issue fintech charters.

Partner Michael Benoit's monthly article in Auto Finance News addressed the Bureau of Consumer Financial Protection's Acting Director Mick Mulvaney's announcement that he is suspending regular examination of institutions' compliance with the Military Lending Act.

F&I and Showroom cited the legal analysis conducted by Partner Tom Buiteweg on behalf of the National Automobile Dealers Association in outlining another setback on the road to auto dealers selling GAP insurance to servicemembers.
Allen Denson
Partner Allen Denson commented for Law360 on the U.S. Court of Appeals Fifth Circuit's rejection of the CFPB's petition to enforce its Civil Investigative Demand to Texas-based public records search company, The Source for Public Data. Eric Johnson's article debunking rumors of the death of the CFPB was published in the September/October issue of Non-Prime Times, the official publication of the National Automotive Finance Association.
